Ayasa Makers Newsletter June 2019
In this email you will read about our new batch#13 (DC04), a list of our available stock and special stock and finally we wish to share some of our future plans with you.
Batch#13
Our newest batch has arrived! It’s easy tunability and open sound make this batch really stand out. We have raw and nitrided tops and bottoms available as of now.
We have decided to again increase width of the flange by 1mm, making the total width to be 11mm. The reasoning behind it is the same as the last time we made the flange bigger with batch#12: the shells will warp less and with deep shaping you will keep more flange. This means that instruments become easier to glue and finally easier to grind. It leads to less detuning of the instrument due to the gluing process. There is less chance that you will grind off too much from the flange, which could lead to losing the harmonics of especially the higher notes on the pan. This is most likely our final increase of the flange width and for the coming batches you can expect it to stay stay the same.
Available batches and special stock
Stainless AISI 430 tops and bottoms
Batch#13 raw and nitrided, both tops and bottoms
(Batch#12 is sold out)
Batch#11 raw and nitrided, both tops and bottoms
Batch#10 double nitrided tops (these shells went through the nitriding process twice, we have tested them and they are well workable, they feel a bit harder and still have more than enough sustain when finished. These are great shells if you are looking for a bit harder material)
Batch#9 nitrided tops and bottoms (since we recently switched our material choice to stainless for our own instrument production, this personal small stock of shells has become available now)
Batch#8 raw tops, nitrided tops and nitrided bottoms
Scrap shells these shells are €20 each, mostly they are nitrided but we also have some raw - price is the same. The batch number of each shell is unknown, mostly they are scrap shells because they have a bad nitriding layer, have scratches or are dent somewhere. Great for making molds or making your shaping mold from them. They are also great for all kinds of testing purposes. Please let us know for which purpose you intend to use them and we will find the best fitting scrap shells for you!
Future plans…
In the mean time we are working on offering more products for makers. We are busy with setting up a production of 1.2mm Stainless shells, 50 cm diameter stainless shells, 56 cm diameter stainless shells and tuning rings. Once a new product becomes available we will let you know by means of a newsletter. If you have any suggestions or ideas for what you would like to see us offer, please let us know!
If you have any questions or wish to make an order, you can reply to this email directly and let us know.
As always… happy hammering!!
